YOLANDA INGLEY II ALBUM LAUNCH
THIS DANGEROUS AGE
(Songs of Love, Protest and Other Jive)
Yolanda Ingley is known for her sultry and distinctive
voice, but it it is her original songs that shine through.
Described by one punter recently as 'a massage for the
soul' with their heartfelt themes of love, protest
and other jive, it is her songs that make her music
so powerful.
Originally cutting her teeth on early soul, blues
and jazz, in particular with songs of the 30s and
40s by Billie Holliday and her contemporaries, Yolanda
has been impressing audiences in the clubs and pubs of
Melbourne and elsewhere, most notably in London where
she has travelled several times in recent years to perform.
This included a 4 week stint in the legendary West End
Club Jazz After Dark in 2014.
Since then Yolanda has been back home in Melbourne
performing, writing and recording her own original material.
Working now with some of Melbournes finest musicians
and drawing heavily on those early influences from her
youth Yolanda has emerged as a mature and sophisticated
singer/songwriter who has, along with her talented band,
managed to create a unique fusion of styles with soulful
overlays.
Yolandas album This Dangerous Age
will be launched at The Spotted Mallard on Thursday
26th May
Yolanda: Vocals, guitar.
The Band: Shane Ryall (Guitar), Steve
Dagg (Saxophone), John OHagan (Double
bass), Steve Blackburn (Keyboards), Matthew
Arnold (Violin), Gail Horsley (Backing vocals
and percussion), Bettina Blackburn (Backing vocals
and percussion)
THE BOLTONS
Super-excited that The Boltons are coming to
The Spotted Mallard to kick off Yolanda's album launch
in fine style. The Boltons bring a wealth of influences
from many years of folk, classical, jazz, acoustic and
rock performances. Atmospheric violin and accordion
in conversation with acoustic guitar and double-bass
trace sparkling lines around memorable melodies, nuanced
vocals and evocative lyrics.
The Baltons are: Peter Anderson - accordion
and vocals | Tom Bolton - acoustic guitar and
vocals | Emma Maloney- violin | Reave Maloney
- double-bass | Les Oldman - drums and vocals
